Apprentice Laboratory Technician

The successful candidate will be working in a lab based role, working with the technical and commercial teams to develop and support bespoke formulations and qualification of ‘off the shelf’ products and technologies. You will be supporting the Product Development Chemist and Product Development Team projects to help develop and test new products.

Summary
The successful candidates duties include:
- Prepare for, and perform laboratory tasks using standard scientific techniques, procedures and methods
- Conduct shelf life studies and ensure product quality throughout shelf life
- Carry out competitor benchmarking using scientific methods and reporting findings
- Assist in the formulations and qualifications of products in line with concepts
- Data collection and analysis using spreadsheets
- Experimental design and execution
- Manufacture products in a laboratory environment throughout the development process
- Demonstrate technical competence in the use of specific instrumentation including calibration where required
- Execution of test protocols to support claims
- Sampling and ordering of raw materials ensuring stock levels are adequate
- Compliance with all safety procedures and policies
- Adherence to Standard operating procedures and risk assessments
- Produce reliable, accurate data and keep accurate records to Good Manufacturing Practice standards
- Analyse, interpret and evaluate data to identify results requiring further investigation
- Any other duties as may be required to fulfil the role profile
Working week
8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Thursday and 8.30am - 1.30pm on Friday. Day release to College on one of these days.

Skills
- Good English and maths skills
- You have an interest in science, formulation and product development
- Working knowledge and use of common IT applications including Microsoft Office
Qualifications
- 5 GCSE’s at A-C/7-4 or equivalent in English, mathematics and science is essential
- A-level Qualifications or equivalent in science, maths or English preferred

- Demonstrate required attitudes, behaviours and interpersonal skills expected of a laboratory environment
- To be able to work in a team and on your own initiative
