Working in a busy children’s day care setting, you will learn the skills required to become a qualified Early Years Practitioner.  This role will involve all aspects of caring for a baby / young child, including personal care work, and will provide the opportunity to develop the professional skills and qualifications required to be an Early Years Practitioner.

You will work under supervision with babies and children aged 3 months to 5 years and will help meet all their care and educational needs.

Once the apprenticeship is completed, it could develop into a contract and a rewarding childcare career at Atherton House School.

Requirements and prospects


A good command of spoken English and willingness to communicate with children and team members in a friendly and professional manner

A good standard of literacy

Basic computer skills (training on our nursery software will be provided)


Previous childcare experience an advantage but not essential

Must have, or be prepared to apply for, a clear DBS certificate

You should be driven to provide the very best care and education for all nursery children and you must always observe strict confidentiality.

We need you to be enthusiastic, committed, reliable, punctual, and well presented. You should also have a professional attitude and a determination to complete your qualification/s.

As a member of staff, you must also follow all our policies and procedures – full information and training will be provided.
