The Apprentice Graduation Ceremony this month has Dion Dublin as the guest speaker.

Legendary English footballer Dion Dublin will take to the stage to inspire this year’s apprentices at a ceremony in Anfield Stadium. A former England international, Dion began his footballing career in Norwich in 1985. He played for a number of Premier League sides including Manchester United & Aston Villa before returning to play for Norwich City at the end of his footballing career nearly 20 years later. As an international footballer, Dion earned his first cap for England in February 1998. He went on to gain three more playing against Morocco, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

While Dion no longer plays professional football, he has turned his talents to television presenting. You may know him now as a pundit for the BBC’s football coverage. He has also been a panel on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk, co-presented 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live, Match of the Day 2 and BBC One’s Football Focus. Day time television viewers may best know Dion as a presenter on Homes under the Hammer. He joined Lucy Alexander and Martin Roberts on the show in 2015. Foodies will also have seen Dion trying his hand successfully at creating fine dining dishes on BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef reaching the final.

Dion will talk about his career, his move into television and how skills acquired during his career have been transferable to make moves into other career paths successful. “I am honoured to be a part of the Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony. It is so important to celebrate the amazing achievements of graduates from across the Liverpool City Region and I can’t think of a better way to do this than with a special evening of awards. Apprenticeships offer incredible opportunities to people who want to pursue a new career, allowing individuals to develop skills and gain valuable experience in the workplace to set them up for success. I am inspired by the resilience and determination of graduates to succeed in their training especially after the uncertainty of the past 2 years. It is a great accomplishment and one that deserves to be celebrated in the company of friends and family. I look forward to joining the graduates on the night to commend their successes and wish them luck in their next career steps.”

Dion will also be joined by Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor, and former apprentice, Steve Rotheram. He will be showing his support and helping celebrate the city’s successful apprentices.
